Extraction of Essential Oil from River Tea Tree (Melaleuca bracteata F. Muell.): Antioxidant and Antimicrobial Properties

Tea tree oil (TTO) from the genus Melaleuca L. has antimicrobial, antibacterial, antifungal, and antioxidant properties is used by cosmetic, pharmaceutical, horticultural industries. In Pakistan, bracteata can be exploited for essential purposes, as this species well adapted to Pakistan’s agroclimatic conditions. The objective of present study was evaluate yield M. together with its antimicrobial under local prevailing conditions subtropics. Essential extracted through hydrodistillation method. Using method, six batches 8 kg samples (fresh leaves branches) underwent a distillation process 4–5 h. average obtained about 0.2%. GCMS identify components oil. Eugenol methyl ether major component in oil, i.e., 96% total. A high content flavonoids phenolics Fe-reducing power ability were observed. also found effective against B. subtilis, cereus, White rot, A. flavus. Hence, it concluded that there possibility use TTO biocidal properties, must inspected then commercialized Pakistan agriculture cosmetic
